Dear Readers,
I apologize for not blogging recently. The reason I have vanished is I am in Lagos and have been running around getting muddy at markets, attending art auctions (I went to the Art House auction at the Civic Center last night) and sitting in traffic. I threw this video together from some of the short clips I’ve taken here. When I get back to Ibadan I will sit down and write some long, thoughtful posts.
Yours truly,
Titi
Lagos is a truly fascinating city… Visiting Nigeria without ever going to Lagos is like an “incomplete visit to Nigeria”…lol
Much love!
‘An escape TO Lagos’?!
Millions dream of escape FROM Lagos!!!
To mas wahala.
Scatta, Scatta!
Gosh! Dosumu! who took you there?! how?! why?! Lol…
Nigeria…mixed feelings, sweet n sour, i definitely dont miss the murky walks and the traffic, but then again, i miss the fun, excitement, spontaneity of the unknown..lol…
The people still cling unto hope but the few in power and merciless! Awwsh, its achingly emotional just thinking about it.
On a lighter note, you do speak yoruba quite well but i think uv lost a bit of the originality and knowledge depth compared to when you first arrived.
The people you converse with on a day to day interaction have diluted the tone in which you speak now, plus ur mixes with pidgin and ‘new-age’ yoruba has produced a much milder blend than what you started out with.
The person I give kudos to is your teacher in Madison, and this is where I have to ask…who taught you this well?!
Also, you’ve lost quite a bit of weight! 😉
James.
haha @ your last comment instead of “I’ll take a moment to…” or “I’ll spend some time on…”, you wrote “I will sit down and…”, that is such a yoruba-english comment, “maa joko…”. When your english starts to reflect yoruba, indeed you can speak yoruba. lol!
ok Aunty Titi…how is Lagos? You when you arrive in Lagos you dont see a sign that says “When come to Lagos” instead what you see and hear is “This is Lagos”
True roads are not tarred and its likely the day after a storm would have avoided the market or such or day or worn boots.. have not been to these markets in 20 years but glad to see they are still as i remember from my youth.
Lagos metropolis, Eko ko ni baje 🙂
Fascinating. The markets are as I expected them to be…hustling and bustling, crowded, dirty, everything for sale! Hope you got those feet washed off! You look beautiful!
Loves,
Michele
